Stars History
Stars football began in 2004 in Walla Walla when they joined the INWFL. Owner Jerry Scott along with Jeff Barnes and Shane Voss got the team rolling and working hard. They made it all the way to the championship game that year and faced off against the Tri City Rattlers. They recieved runner-up honors that year but it was a great learning expierience that season. With a team made up of small school kids from around the Blue Mountain area, the Stars were one of the smaller sized teams in the league. That didnt keep them from competing each and every game, playing hard and with alot of heart. No one ever gave that team a chance, let alone that they were gonna stick around and continue playing. Four years, two runner-up and two championship trophies later, the Stars are still playing high level football.
The team continues to give young men(and some older men) the opportunity to play the sport they love once again. It also provides some young athletes who would like to play at the college level another chance of getting there. The Stars are now owned by Jeff Barnes and have alot of new players since that 2004 team, but what that 2004 team did and the tradition they started will not be forgotten. There are a few young men from that team still playing for the Stars and continuing to play that hard nosed, high action Stars football. Stay tuned as the Blue Mountain Stars are going for a threepeat this year. The Stars are now a member of the Washington Football League for info on the league follow the link below.
